Android 11 will force users to use the built-in camera app

With the full release of Android 11, some so far undiscovered changes in the upcoming version will soon be announced. One such change has to do with how third-party applications use the camera on Android 11 devices. It turns out that in some cases, users will no longer be able to select their default camera application.

Android 11, originally discovered by Android Police, will not allow users to select third-party camera apps to take photos or videos on behalf of other apps. Instead, this will force them to rely only on the built-in camera application on the phone. On the Issue Tracker thread, a Googler defended the change. He said: "We believe that protecting user privacy and security is the right balance."
It seems that applications that need to use the camera but do not have a built-in camera application (such as a barcode scanner) require the use of the default camera application on the phone. Then, the system prompts the user to select their preferred option from a list of camera applications (including third-party applications) installed on the device.
However, Android 11 is clearly changing this situation. If you need to provide a new report, Android 11 will now automatically select the manufacturer's pre-installed camera application in the above cases, without you having to select the default camera application. For most users, this is unlikely to be a big problem, but advanced users are not completely satisfied with this change.
At the same time, a report from 9to5Google claims that in Android 11 beta, users can still set the default camera application by double-clicking the power button. It is not clear whether this option will still be available in the final release.
