Samsung Display launches new low-power OLED to improve the battery life of 5G phones

Not long ago, Samsung Display announced that its high-end notebook computers with a refresh rate of 90Hz will meet with consumers in March this year. According to Samsung's plan, there will be a number of notebooks with the same configuration in the future. In terms of smartphones, Samsung also has new moves. Today, Samsung Display issued a statement saying that Samsung will launch a new OLED for low-power smart phones this year. Currently, Samsung Display has successfully commercialized new organic materials.

According to the official introduction, this new type of OLED display can significantly improve luminous efficiency and reduce the power consumption of smart phones by more than 16%. The display uses organic luminescent materials to present colors. This material can emit brighter light while consuming less energy. More importantly, it can effectively improve the battery life of the smartphone. The new OLED is used for the first time on the Samsung S21 Ultra flagship smartphone recently released by Samsung Electronics.
In this regard, Jeeho Baek, vice president of small and medium strategic marketing of Samsung Display, said: “In recent years, display technologies such as large screens, high refresh rates, and high resolutions have continued to develop. In order to effectively implement these technologies, the demand for low power consumption technologies has also increased. Based on our own material technology advantages, we will further contribute to the improvement of the performance of our customers’ new products."

In the OLED field, Samsung Display has accumulated a large number of patents. Data shows that by 2020, Samsung Display has a total of about 5,000 related patents.
