Apple's supply chain problems will be more serious, iPhone and iPad will be greatly affected

On July 28, Apple held a third-quarter earnings conference call and announced the third-quarter results of the 2021 fiscal year. Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Messeri mentioned supply chain restrictions on the conference call, saying that it may affect the fourth-quarter performance and impact the sales of iPhone and iPad.

Luca Mestri said: "We expect that the supply chain constraints in the fourth fiscal quarter will be more serious than what we experienced in the third fiscal quarter, and will mainly affect the iPhone and iPad." Despite the complex supply chain issues, Apple’s net revenue in the third fiscal quarter continued to grow rapidly, reaching US$81.434 billion, a year-on-year increase of 36%, and net profit of US$21.744 billion, a year-on-year increase of 93%.

It can be seen from the product line that the iPhone accounts for a large proportion of Apple's revenue, with revenues of up to 26.418 billion U.S. dollars in the third fiscal quarter; the net revenue of Mac and iPad is not as prominent as that of iPhone, which is 8.235 billion U.S. dollars and 7.368 billion U.S. dollars respectively; The net revenue of wearable devices, household products and accessories totaled $8.775 billion. Although the supply chain is a major issue, Apple is still confident of ensuring its fourth-quarter performance growth. It is expected to achieve a very strong double-digit percentage growth, but the growth rate is expected to be lower than the third-quarter.
