Apple will stop iOS 14 security updates in response to low iOS 15 update rate

We have previously reported that after the official release of iOS 15, Apple still retains the security updates for iOS 14, which means that if users are unwilling to use the new iOS 15, they can continue to use iOS 14 and get normal security. Guaranteed, but not using some new features or meaningless updates. However, judging from the recent news, it may not be very friendly to this part of the "system nail households".

Apple said today that the company will stop security updates related to iOS 14. If users choose to continue to use iOS 14, there may be risks of use. Apple hopes that users will update to iOS 15 as soon as possible. Apple had previously issued a statement in September last year, saying that it would allow iOS 14 users to "continue to use it for a period of time", which now seems to be about four months to expire.

It can be known that since the update rate of iOS 15 is much lower than expected, it has dropped a lot from iOS 13 to iOS 14. Apple doesn’t have much to do about this. They believe that the main reason is that because iOS 14 still has version updates, it is a good idea to stop security updates to the system to prompt users to update as soon as possible.

The current update rate of iOS 15 is only 72%, which is much lower than the adoption rate of previous iOS versions, so it is inevitable for Apple to terminate the update of iOS 14, but for users, it may be a loss of some control over their own devices.
