Apple announces Car Key to unlock your car wirelessly with iPhone

Apple today announced Car Key at its global developer conference. This is a method of wirelessly unlocking a car using an iPhone. Apple said the feature is part of the newly released iOS 14 and it will run on NFC. The first car to be supported will be the new 2021 BMW 5 Series released next month. Apple said it is planning to develop industry standards and will use its new U1 ultra-wideband chip instead of relying solely on NFC.
After pairing an iPhone or Apple Watch with a car that supports Car Key, if you want to unlock the car, simply place the Apple device near the NFC reader in the car (for example, the door handle of the car). Before the car is unlocked, you will be asked to use Face ID or Touch ID for identity verification
Certificate, or you can set Express Mode to skip biometric authentication. You can also share access rights with others through iMessage. Apple said the feature will also support iOS 13.
By 2021, other car manufacturers of the BMW 5 Series have provided numeric keys with similar functions, but they are separate applications, not directly embedded in Apple's operating system, and have all the advantages that can be provided. Putting the car key in a central location in iOS also allows you to save the digital keys of multiple cars in one place.
Car Key may use the Digital Key Release 2.0 specification of the Automotive Connectivity Alliance, which was officially finalized in May. The specification "uses near-field communication (NFC) technology to achieve contactless communication between smartphones and vehicles, and supports a scalable architecture to be adopted on a large scale without reducing costs." According to his LinkedIn Apple’s SK Yong is the manager of the company’s wireless technology and ecosystem, and he was appointed to the board of directors of the consortium.
Emily Schubert (Emily Schubert) on LinkedIn is an engineering manager, Apple's automotive industry experience, is listed as Yong's replacement. Interestingly, her name uses the "portable computing device" to locate the Apple patent for the vehicle.
